Yesterday I had my second visit to iZone Driver Performance at Silverstone, along with fellow BWRDC member and MSN Rally competitor Cathy Sewart. We were both keen to improve our driving before the new season kicks off in November, as we aim to take class wins in our respective classes.

The Sim was set up as a 1600cc Ford Fiesta which was perfect for me as it's as close to my real rally car as you could get on a Sim! We chose to try Oulton Park, as it's the circuit we both feel least confident with, and also the first round of the championship.

After our instructor Neil demonstrated some laps we had a couple of sessions each, focusing again on improving our vision and looking further ahead. I found it much easier to get to grips with the Sim this time and we both found that the vision techniques helped us to improve our lap times as the session progressed.

We're hoping to fit in another couple of sessions at iZone before the season begins, as it's a great way to learn the venues and improve our driving techniques without risking damage to the car!
