I'm really excited to be competing in the Scottish Rally Championship this year! After a few years competing on circuit rallies I'm really looking forward to a new challenge with closed road and gravel events!

Unfortunately the first few rounds were cancelled due to Covid so we kicked off with the Dunoon Presents Argyll Rally last weekend. This was my first closed road road rally, first ever recce and the first time in a few years using pacenotes so it was a big learning curve for me. It was great to have Phil Kenny in the co-driver's seat - Phil has done a couple of events with me before and has experience driving and co-driving so he was able to give me really good advice on the recce to make sure we were well prepared.

The event kicked off on Friday evening with two stages through Dunoon town centre! It was a surreal experience to be driving round the closed off town centre at speed and the locals were out in force to cheer the crews on which really added to the atmosphere. We then headed out to the country lanes for three more stages on the Friday evening, running into the dark which was a real challenge! The Saturday was a full day out on the country lanes, with some fast and flowing sections as well as tight and twisty parts and plenty of crests!

I absolutely loved my first closed road rally! It was a really challenging event but I learnt a lot and we achieved our goal of having a clean run and getting plenty of experience. I was pleased to finish 3rd in class M3 of the SRC crews and 27th overall out of the SRC crews. Thank you to Phil for keeping me right on the stages and to Howard and Connor for looking after JIG. Thanks also to Morris Lubricants and Demon Tweeks for their support.

Next up for us is the Lee Holland Stages at Anglesey this weekend! I'm really looking forward to getting back out in the car again so soon after 8 months off due to Covid!
