This weekend was the second round of the 2018/19 Motorsport News Championship. Before we headed off to scrutineering Jamie and I were delighted to be asked to the BBC Coventry and Warwickshire Radio studio to talk to Lorna Bailey about our rallying.

The BBC team surprised us by having former WRC co-driver Trevor Agnew call in to give us some advice. You can listen to us on the Lorna Bailey show here: https://bbc.in/2Q8uAJM and catch us from 1 hour 45 mins.

Following our retirement at Oulton Park we couldn’t wait to get back out in the car again. It was very slippery and we made the wrong tyre choice for the first two stages but still set reasonable times. We also lost a bit of time in traffic due to being seeded lower than we hoped. We lost out on the faster stages which benefitted the higher powered cars but we were pleased with where we finished and we scored some good championship points, finishing 4th in Class and 33rd overall – an improvement of 20 places on last year which was our first event in the car. I was also awarded the trophy for Best Female Driver.

I’m currently sitting 5th in class B heading into Round 3 – the Knockhill Stages in Scotland. We’re both really looking forward to the event as it’s our home rally. I grew up near the venue so it’s my home circuit and I sat my BARS test there so it’s where my love of rallying started. Last year we had a strong result there, finishing second in class in just our second event in the car, so we’re looking forward to seeing what we can do this year.
