Wow, what a weekend at the Jim Clark Reivers Rally! The Jim Clark has been on my bucket list for years and was cancelled the last couple of years so it was really special to finally take part in such an iconic event.

We started off with our recce on Wednesday and Thursday which was a really good chance to refine the pacenotes, especially as we were using a different pacenote provider than usual.

I was feeling really nervous – the only closed road rally I’d done before was Argyll last year which I found really tough so I was feeling under pressure. However we took part in the shakedown on Friday and that really helped to prepare me for the rally and calm my nerves a bit prior to the event.

We had a day off on the Saturday while the national event took place, before we took to the stages on Sunday. The event certainly did not disappoint! Incredible stages (VERY fast in parts) and a really well organised event. We had a great run up until stage 4 when I clipped a rock and we got a puncture and lost time stopping to change it.

Luckily we were able to finish the rally although I was slightly cautious on the last couple of stages due to the car pulling slightly due to damage from when we got the puncture – it turns out the bottom arm was bent from the impact.

Thanks to Martin, Howard and Connor for being great company and for all their hard work and support this last week - JIG didn’t miss a beat. Thank you also to my sponsors Carbon Positive Motorsport, Morris Lubricants and Demon Tweeks Motorsport.

Next up for us is another closed road rally - the Argyll rally at the end of June.
