Ashleigh Morris

I was very excited to get back behind the wheel of a rally car last weekend for the first time in 5 months!

After an accident in September, my Fiesta R200 ‘JIG’ still wasn’t ready so I hired a Fiesta R2 from EDSL Sport for the East Riding Stages set around Beverley in East Yorkshire.

It was certainly an eventful weekend for us – unfortunately our recce car broke down mid-recce on Saturday! It was my first event competing in a left hand drive car and I didn’t drive the car until the morning of the rally so it was a steep learning curve for me!

The organisers put on a fantastic event with a dedicated FanZone in Beverley town centre and Morris Lubricants ambassador Guy Martin in attendance to see the top cars off.

The stages were fantastic, very fast and flowing and I was able to build up my confidence in the new car as the day went on. It was fantastic to get back behind the wheel after such a long time and good preparation for my next event.

Thanks to Alex, Bill and Matt from EDSL for the car and looking after us all weekend, and to Martin Haggett for doing a brilliant job on the notes as always. Thank you also to my sponsors Morris Lubricants, Carbon Positive Motorsport and Demon Tweeks for their continued support.

Next up I’m back to the co-driver’s seat for the Lee Holland Stages this weekend with Ollie O’Donovan before returning to the driver’s seat at the end of March for my first event abroad.
